**For Immediate Release - Ferry Street Incident**

On Friday, April 17, 2020 at approximately 1:16 p.m., Easthampton Police and EMS were dispatched to the area of Ferry Street by the Manhan Rail Trail after receiving reports of shots fired and an injured person inside a vehicle.

The first police units on scene found the involved subject inside a vehicle stopped in the travel lane. The involved was suffering from gunshot wound(s), and after the scene was secured, our officers initiated life-saving medical aid.

After a preliminary investigation it was determined that the injured person had suffered self-inflicted gunshot wounds. This person was subsequently transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

There is no danger to the public. This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Easthampton Police Detective Bureau at (413) 527-1212. There is no further information for release at this time.
