The primary goal of Easthampton Public Safety Communications is to assist public service and public IMG 7007safety agencies in the protection of life, preservation of property and ensuring the safety of Easthampton’s first responders, citizens and visitors. We strive to provide the highest quality of service by promptly answering and dispatching all calls for assistance in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.

The Easthampton Public Safety Communications Center/PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) is housed within the public safety complex located at 32 Payson Avenue. The center’s staff includes eight public safety dispatchers and the dispatch supervisor, all of whom are civilian employees, and they utilize two dispatch workstations to perform their daily duties. The center operates on a 24/7 basis and handles all emergency and non-emergency calls for service, as well as assisting people who come into the station seeking assistance.

Upon receiving a call for service, the role of the dispatcher includes gathering all necessary information from the caller, relaying all pertinent information to responders and documenting appropriate information in the computer-aided dispatch system. The communications center team is responsible for dispatching police, fire and emergency medical services, as well as reaching the Department of Public Works on nights, weekends and holidays.

Each dispatcher must attend eighty (80) hours of State-mandated training and complete an extensive in-house training process before being cleared to work alone. Additionally, a minimum of sixteen (16) hours of continuing education and renewal of CPR/First Responder certification are required annually.

Dial 9-1-1 to report a police, fire or medical emergency only. For all other non-emergency calls, please dial (413) 527-1212.
